It’s Good to Talk.

“It’s good to talk”.

It’s good to talk, it really is, but it’s important to talk to the right people.

How many times have you confided in someone and got a reaction that made it worse? Or how many times have you confided in someone but only told half the story because you were protecting their feelings? In those situations, you’re still left with emotions that you might not know what to do with, and that’s not always easy to sit with.

So it is good to talk and of course being able to talk to friends, family, or work colleagues is a fantastic thing but sometimes it isn’t enough.

This really is the beauty of counselling.

With counselling, you’re not worrying about hurting your counsellor’s feelings because they’re impartial, they’re uninvolved and they won’t be impacted personally by the things you tell them in the same way a friend or family member might be – so you can lay it all out in the room.

Your counsellor is also trained and prepared to hear the things you’re going to share, so nothing is too heavy.

So yes, it is good to talk, it’s great to talk but it’s good to talk in a safe environment where you can create a space for yourself and share your whole story.

You can deepen your understanding of what is going on for you and find new ways to cope and manage the things in your life.
